Joe Gabaeff specializes in interactive media, intellectual property and technology transactions.

Mr. Gabaeff’s background in a wide variety of industries and practice areas provide his Gamma Law clients a well-rounded, comprehensive approach to solving their legal issues. He is a patent attorney, capable of understanding and communicating complex technologies and nuances of all types of intellectual property law. Having worked as a litigator for years in the patent and other IP fields, Mr. Gabaeff brings a focus on practical solutions when advising and guiding his clients in business and contractual matters. Mr. Gabaeff found a home in the interactive media legal industry, bringing his years of experience in the law and as a student of the trade to bear in his practice.

As Senior Legal Counsel at Sega Networks, Mr. Gabaeff worked extensively across all departments within Sega Networks, and with many departments in the wider Sega in craft comprehensive solutions that served all aspects of the business. Mr. Gabaeff’s work spanned assisting in the creation of privacy policies and best practices in an ever-changing digital landscape to crafting international licensing agreements for some of Sega’s most valuable IP. During much of this time, he also worked with a high-profile boutique law firm in Los Angeles, receiving mentorship from one of the premier video game attorneys in the world while working directly with some of the biggest interactive media developers in the US, including Psyonix, Ready at Dawn, and Insomniac.

Mr. Gabaeff approaches his legal practice from a place of balancing head, heart and hands. He understands the legal issues and business goals of his clients, combining that knowledge with an understanding of the personalities and cultures that are coming together in a situation, all with an eye toward working to deliver to the client whatever advice, instrument or counsel needed to help move the situation forward competently and in a way that aligns with the larger business goals of the client.
