Kokoro Motegi guides international clients across a wide variety of industries on cross-border M&A transactions, litigation, regulatory, and corporate matters.

As the former deputy general counsel for a leading UK-based art services business, Ms. Motegi brings extensive experience in legal and regulatory developments relating to NFTs and other Web3 technologies.  She previously served as senior counsel for SoftBank Investment Advisers, where she was involved in the formation and launch of the SoftBank Vision Fund, the world’s largest technology-focused investment fund with more than $130 billion in invested capital. She oversaw litigation, antitrust, and other regulatory matters and advised senior management on risk and various aspects of fund operations

Prior to her roles as in-house counsel, Ms. Motegi worked in premier global law firms’ Tokyo and San Francisco offices, both in corporate and transactional groups focusing on international M&A and in litigation groups, managing complex commercial and cross-border litigation and regulatory investigations.

Ms. Motegi’s native fluency in both Japanese and English, as well as her deep understanding of the unique business needs, priorities, and communication styles of clients in different jurisdictions, enable Ms. Motegi to provide clients with seamless and comprehensive legal support.
