Maxim Kogan is an international transactional lawyer, with significant experience in corporate, commercial, and financial matters, including cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.
Fluent in English and Russian, Mr. Kogan served as senior associate with a premier global law firm in London and New York, where he advised on a wide range of mergers and acquisitions, public and private divestitures, joint ventures, corporate governance, and other finance matters. Mr. Kogan also has first-hand experience leading and negotiating complex multibillion-dollar M&A deals and commercial contracts for start-ups, investment banks, and private equity funds. He is known for his managerial experience leading projects and for his background as a fund portfolio manager with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in Geneva. He has extensive experience managing all legal aspects of complex financial transactions and related corporate matters.
Mr. Kogan joined Gamma Law after serving as legal counsel to the Global Fund, where he structured, drafted, and negotiated agreements with governments, UN agencies, NGOs, development banks, private-sector partners and foundations, pharmaceutical companies, and others. He also advised the Global Fund’s board on policy and financing initiatives, corporate governance, IT/IP, GDPR, compliance, and ethics issues.
Additionally, Mr. Kogan has worked with the New York State Attorney General’s Investment Protection Bureau, the International Criminal Tribunals for former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, the International Criminal Court at The Hague, and the United Nations Development Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
